Jakob – Thumbs Up!

Jakob is my first grandson. He is a delight to all of us. He is six months old and he finds himself in a loving family with solid parents, caring grandparents, and even great grandparents who love him and dote over him.

On December 23, 2012 Jakob’s parents Gary and Andrea Huehnerhoff dedicated Jakob formally to the Lord at Cedar Park Church. Our pastor, the Rev. Dr. Joseph Fuiten officiated the ceremony, with me being privileged to bring the prayer.

The prayer that the Lord gave me is as follows. It includes a scripture theme for each of the letters of his first name.

Jakob

A good name is better than precious ointment.  Ecclesiastes 7:1

Justice – He hath shewed thee, O man, what is good; and what doth the Lord require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God? Micah 6:8

May Jakob be a man who loves God and is one in whom the Spirit of God dwells and may he be a testimony of God’s love, mercy, justice, and do so as a humble man.

Abundance – I am come that they might have life, and have it more abundantly. John 10:10

May God give Jakob a life of purpose, of challenge, of honor and integrity. May he be set apart for his life’s calling, and enjoy God’s provision in all areas.

Keep – The Lord bless thee, and keep thee:  The Lord make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee:  The Lord lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace. Numbers 6:24-26

May the Lord rest his hand of blessing on Jakob, and prosper his way, and show favor unto him all the days of his life.

Obedience – Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice. 1 Samuel 15:22

May Jakob be strong in Christian doctrine, and understand the ways of God and the principles of the kingdom of God, and apply them.

Burden – The burden of the word of the LORD.  Malachi 1:1

May Jakob hear the voice of God, and my he be a laborer in the white fields of harvest in these last days, and be a warrior for the kingdom of God.

  1. I didn’t realize you had a blog until I saw the link in your email signature. It was sure nice to see a picture of Jakob giving a thumbs-up first thing when I opened the link! 🙂
